Sunday Brunch: Aug 3rd

This month’s theme, Japan. Be the first to tell me why and I will personally buy you brunch. Do you think the excitement and crazy mob scene of Momofuku Noodle has died down? Not likely! The vibe is rock-and-roll, the service intuitive and agile, and the crowd full of wide-eyed fellow chefs. Sound like we should give it a try, so join us for some good food, and good company!

time: Sunday, Aug. 3, 12:30pm
location: Momofuku Noodle Bar
171 First Ave. (Between 10th & 11th)

RSVP to RaphaeLkkL@Yahoo.com with name and contact number by the Friday, Aug. 1.
All are welcome!

No August General Meeting

In the spirit of summer, when things slow down, there will be no General Meeting August. Our meetings will resume in September, when the weather cools, people return from vacation, and business as usual resumes in the city. We do however have some other exciting summer activities in the works, so watch your email for details!

General Meeting: July 18

It’s summer, it’s hot, we just got through another successful Pride season, so this month we’re going to kick back and relax a bit. To that end, for this month’s general meeting, we’re going out to dinner!

Location: Singapore Cafe
69 Mott St., between Bayard and Canal St.
Time: Fri., July 18th, 8:00pm
Cost: $15-$20
RSVP: Please email gapimny@gapimny.org by Thurs., July 17th.

We’ll celebrate GAPIMNY and another half a year of activities and accomplishments, and have an informal conversation about where we’d like to see the organization go for the second half of the year. But mostly, we’ll have some fun and get to know each other a little better.

Hope to see you there!

Asian American International Film Festival: “The Post Card”

Join GAPIMNY as we once again do the film festival circuit and sponsoring a series of shorts at the AAIFF. As a benefit of sponsorship, we can offer you discounted tickets to this program!

Where: Asia Society, 725 Park Ave. @ 70th St.
When: Sunday, July 13th, 9:30 pm

More about the film program:
I HEART WKW
“If imitation is the highest form of flattery, then these films are pure adoration. All they’re missing are the doe-eyed popstars, which are as much Wong Kar-Wai’s cinematic signature as his visually saturated films about unrequited love. In the mix are nods to other influential films and filmmakers, such as MOMMY DEAREST and the Coen brothers.”

We are specifically sponsoring:
THE POSTCARD

South Korea 2007 | 15 minutes |Korean with English subtitles
A mysterious postcard stirs a sleepy post office when employees realize that the amorous content is meant for one of them.
